The Renascence Review is a (mostly) weekly newsletter for our clients and other curious professionals to better understand finance, explore undercurrents and think critically (on an abundance of topics).

The site - which, as with all things, will no doubt evolve - serves as an intersection of insights from my professional work in finance, and unrelated content from my personal interests and findings.

Professionally, as an independent investment adviser, I write about finance (broadly speaking), forecast-free and with no fluff.

Everything else is a collection of things I'm reading, watching, listening to or thinking, and is usually not finance related.

I make no apology for mixing it up.

Topics range from the economy, behavioural finance and investing, to history, current affairs, art and sustainability. Basically whatever I'm interested in. I'll try to make it interesting for you too.

Occasionally, I'll write informative articles, market updates and sometimes just address an arbitrary topic on its own.

The short newsletter is a mix of commentary and curated content designed to:

  1. Educate readers on various aspects in the world of finance and investing; and
  2. Share other interesting content that you might not otherwise stumble upon amidst the noise of the internet and breaking news.

    About Casper

I'm a British-born, China-based, US-licensed, private wealth adviser and Founding Partner at Renascence Capital and Renascence USA.

I started my career at a global financial advisory firm (basically a boiler room), before being poached by its biggest competitor - a FTSE 100 wealth manager - and then a boutique hedge fund. All in Shanghai and all within the space of a few years.

Jordan - my friend, colleague and business partner - and I decided to go solo in 2018, after realising that the industry was outdated and riddled with salespeople as opposed to advisers, opaqueness as opposed to transparency and self-interest as opposed to fiduciary responsibility.

We help people make better decisions with their hard-earned wealth.

And we've seen first hand how others fail to do it, particularly in the murky world of offshore finance.

We look after people from a broad range of backgrounds: successful entrepreneurs, creatives, corporate executives, and international and multigenerational families.
